Situated in the heart of Seminyak, Away Spa offers a lot more than some of its competitors and is run on a 24-hour basis. Here relaxing treatments are offered within the surrounds of the spa’s delightful design structure.

The indoor spa area is located close to the hotel’s lobby and has 3 single treatment rooms, 2 double treatment rooms, 2 spa suites, 1 beauty room, hair salon, wet area, detox/oxygen room, bar and retail area.

After being welcomed by the receptionist at the spa’s lobby a therapist escorted me to the treatment room. I chose the 90-minute Zen Balancing treatment, a treatment inspired by wushu martial arts. The first session is a little unusual as it involves a 5-minute session of wushu breathing and stretching exercises within a small area adjacent to the treatment room. It is actually a series movement that involves sweeping, twisting and stretching of the limbs. The purpose of this session is to warm up the body and open channels for a “chi” energy flow.

Next, the warm oil is poured onto the body and a therapist begins the Zen balancing treatment. A piece of warmed bamboo is rolled along the body in gentle rhythmic strokes and so becomes a medium of the therapist’s hands to provide an effective massaging of pressure point of key bodily areas.. This action is believed to promote circulation, aid in lymphatic drainage, and deliver a deep sense of relaxation.

This treatment was a relaxing experience that resulted in the complete eliminating of stiffness and sore muscles
