Great Michelin Experience at Paste Laos

” The first restaurant with a Michelin Starred Chef opens in Luang Prabang ”

Paste Laos has now opened in Luang Prabang’s first boutique hotel The Apsara. Paste Laos is headed by celebrity chef Bee Santongun who has just won a Michelin star for Paste Bangkok, in the first ever edition of the Michelin guide to Thailand, in addition, she has been voted The Best Female Chef in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Through her cuisine, Bee Santong explores her Hmong heritage as she remembers with great pleasure the Lao food her Grandmother used to make for her. In every dish, she blends art and creativity into her culinary creations using carefully selected high-quality ingredients and beautiful preparation techniques.
The menu features the very subtle tastes that can be found in traditional Laos food, taking inspiration from the classic recipes of Phia Sing who was Chef at the Royal Court of Laos, while also exploring the many herbs and ingredients found in the forests that are used in Hmong food.
Recommended dishes include watermelon and ground ‘pa beuk’ (the king of Laotian fish) with crispy shallots, roasted galangal powder and caviar tossed through. Then there is ‘Lon Som Muu’ a relish of slowly braised pork belly, herbinfused coconut cream, roasted banana chilli, sour plum, pink fish roe and banana stalk, and Twin layered coconut cream cups, topped with historical ‘Kanab Kung Yai’. End your meal with a decadent Tamarind Cheesecake served with Jasmine tea cream.
