Te. Ja. Co is a lounge bar on a spectacular site and is furnished with inspired taste. This is a rather
interesting place to celebrate “Thank God It’s Friday” or any other day of the week for that matter.

The interior of Te.Ja.Co features contemporary décor with an expressive use marble and timber adding a bit of oomph to the overall impression created on an initial visit. An open-air area overlooking their artificial lagoon along with the Indian Ocean is covered with rice grass thatching. Swaying palm trees in front of the building add to the bar’s fantasy environment. Here, one can enjoy the company of friends over a drink or two while overlooking a panorama of ocean and evening skies. The Bar’s name Te.Ja.Co is the Indonesian for Tea, Jamu, and Coffee, the traditional beverages taken by Indonesians while on a work break. There is however a lot more available at this lounge bar.

Cold beers, wine and spirits are here of course together with an exceptional range of cocktails. I indulged myself with a couple of cocktails, first was the bar’s Blue Hawaii; blue Curacao, rum, pineapple juice and
coconut cream. The second was a strawberry mojito that was served with a length of sugar cane; it is by biting the cane that balances the natural bitterness of the mojito. Te.Ja.Co also embraces local traditional drinks by serving ‘jamu’, an Indonesian herbal drink. I ordered the jamu kunyit, made from fresh turmeric it was mildly sweet and is believed to have a good health benefits.

A complimentary afternoon tea including decadent sweets, cakes and sandwiches is provided for the guests and can be enjoyed in Te.Ja.Co. This was a marvellous way to enjoy an afternoon tea that was delivered in the true style of this very British obsession. Te.Ja.Co produces a stylish collection of very pleasant surprises within the eclectic environs of its lounge bar.
