AWARDED TWICE AS THE BEST RESORT HOTEL IN SOUTHEAST ASIA, AND NOTED FOR ITS EXCEPTIONAL ARCHITECTURE, 137 PILLARS HOUSE IS OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED AS THE LEADING LUXURY HOTEL IN CHIANG MAI.
The 137 Pillars House is a beautiful old building made from teak wood that has been carefully restored to reflect its 19th Century origins. The hotel opened in 2011 occupying the original “Baan Borneo” house which, built in the late 1800s, was the Northern Headquarters of The Borneo Company for many years.
Thirty expansive suites were built around the original teak house, designed to blend in with the natural beauty of their surroundings. This historic luxury boutique hotel became the leading luxury hotel in Chiang Mai, providing a full complement of high-quality services and facilities.
With sizes ranging from 70 to 135 square metres, The 137 Pillars House Suites offers a selection from several accommodation categories. There are the Rajah Brooke Suites, East Borneo Suites, D.F. Macfie Suites, William Baine Terrace Suites and Louis Leonowens Pool Suites. Each is lavishly appointed complete with a four-poster bed, wooden floors, a suite dressing room with walk-in closet, separate indoor /outdoor garden showers and Victorian baths.
Committed to reducing the amount of waste it generates, 137 Pillars House is an eco-friendly resort composting all organic waste to be used in the vegetable and herb gardens. The garden is the source for many of the ingredients the resort’s chefs and bartenders have come to rely on.
The resort offers several dining choices to tantalise the taste buds. The Palette restaurant is the place to savour the epicurean art of gourmet cuisine, making use of the freshest of “farm to kitchen” ingredients paired with carefully selected wines. Organic ingredients are combined to produce the most exquisite dishes of Thai and Lanna cuisine to be served in the Dining Room or out in the open air. Guests can also enjoy the delight of an afternoon tea featuring house Chaidim Tea served in the gardens or in the Parlour of Baan Borneo House. A wide range of handcrafted classics, contemporary cocktails and tasty bites are available at Jack Bain’s Bar.
A place to pamper your body and mind, the Nitra Spa & Wellness offers an extensive range of treatments, therapies, rituals and exercise programmes accompanied by healthy organic spa cuisine. A hand-picked team of therapists is on hand to work with you and help you meet your wellbeing targets based on your individual needs and preferences.
Sun loungers are available if you wish to simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the poolside. You can go for a swim in the 25-meter pool, while the 24-hour gym is available at any time should you feel the need.
