High above Bangkok, 137 Pillars Suites Bangkok is serving a new afternoon tea that blends French pâtisserie and Japanese flavors. Inspired by the 19th-century Japonisme movement, The Art of Japonisme combines elegant pastries with refined savory creations, all served at the intimate Baan Borneo Club on the hotel’s 26th floor. Available from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027, it’s an elegant excuse to slow down over tea while enjoying sweeping city views.

The savory selection brings together Japanese flavors in a series of elegant bites, from tuna wrapped in compressed cucumber with ikura caviar and chilled kombu consommé, to crisp oysters topped with lime shoyu and ebiko caviar. Other highlights include konnyaku-infused prawns wrapped in delicate somen noodles and seared Wagyu glazed with umami-rich teriyaki miso, complemented by aosa nori and Ossetra caviar.

Dessert brings French pâtisserie into the spotlight with subtle Japanese influences. Guests can savour a selection of sweets, including fragrant yuzu mousse balanced with the gentle bitterness of matcha and a buttery hazelnut financier paired with kombucha ginger cream. Another timeless French classic, the Mont Blanc, features satisfying layers of almond sponge, whole chestnut, raspberry compote and maple Chantilly. Premium nama chocolate infused with roasted hojicha delivers a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth finish, and signature scones receive a seasonal update with Hokkaido milk and Sakura cranberry, served with clotted cream and house-made melon and peach honey jams.

“Like the 19th-century Japonisme movement, our new collection is about discovering beauty in contrast and balance,” said Executive Chef Korawit Rungchat. “We approached Japanese flavors and French techniques with fresh eyes, finding new ways of seeing through craftsmanship.”
“The Art of Japonisme” afternoon tea is served daily from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm from 1 June 2026 – 31 May 2027 at Baan Borneo Club.
