In September 2018, The Datai Langkawi was extensively renovated, the most substantial enhancement since its opening back in 1993. The renovation was guided by a vision to refresh the spaces, while still maintaining its traditional Datai roots. The resort’s refreshed look and feel offers a nature and culture-based experience for its guests while promoting Malaysian hospitality to the world.

121 rooms including suites and villas are available in the resort, all have enchanting views of the tropical rainforest while some have breathtaking views out over the Andaman Sea. The rooms come in a selection of categories: The Canopy Collection, The Rainforest Collection, The Datai Estate Villa and The Beach Collection.

The Datai Langkawi offers a diverse selection of cuisines with a distinctive Malaysian and Asian flair in both of the resort’s restaurants. The Gulai House is an award-winning restaurant located deep within the rainforest serving a true local feast. The Pavilion is modelled after a birdhouse with far-reaching views of the rainforest where guests are served Thai cuisine using freshly harvested herbs.

The Lobby Lounge offers delicious light snacks, including a premium selection of teas and Afternoon High Tea served with a choice of local or British treats, and a splendid selection of cocktails, fine spirits, wines and champagne.

Resident Naturalist Irshad Mobarak leads The Datai Langkawi’s nature activities, and he and his team will take guests on a journey to explore a deeper understanding and appreciation of the surroundings and to reconnect with nature. The Nature Centre is a lounge where guests can relax and listen to stories of the wild by Irshad and his team. Other new highlights at the resort include kayaking through the mangroves, birdwatching treks, edutainment activities for the children and a new Datai observation deck. Sustainability is a key factor in the protection of this unique natural habitat, and the resort is committed to using less energy, conserve water and avoid single-use plastic.
