DISCOVER SINGAPORE’S ART SCENE AT SINGAPORE GALLERY MONTH 2026

Whether you regularly visit galleries or are simply curious about Singapore’s cultural scene, Singapore Gallery Month (SGM) 2026 is an invitation to discover new artists, ideas and experiences across the city.

Returning from 15 August to 13 September 2026, the month-long celebration organised by the Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS) brings together more than 100 exhibitions, talks, tours, workshops and special experiences at galleries and partner venues across the island.

This year’s programme is particularly welcoming to those who may be curious about art but unsure where to begin. Visitors can discover works by Singaporean, regional and international artists, hear directly from artists and gallerists, join guided tours and hands-on workshops, and learn more about collecting without feeling that they need to be an expert—or even a collector—to take part.

For those already immersed in the art world, SGM also creates opportunities to make new discoveries, meet the people behind the works and gain fresh perspectives on collecting. From gallery-hopping and artist conversations to private collection visits and art advisory sessions, the programme approaches art not simply as something to view or acquire, but as something to experience, discuss and live with.

Discover: Exploring New Artists and Ideas
Throughout SGM 2026, galleries across Singapore will present exhibitions featuring local, regional and international artists working across a diverse range of media and perspectives. Alongside the exhibitions, visitors can attend artist talks and walkthroughs led by curators, artists and gallerists that offer greater insight into the context and creative processes behind the artworks on show.

Selected exhibition highlights include:

• FOST Gallery presents The Lie of the Land from 1 August – 12 September, an annual group show of Singaporean artists examining the current state of affairs – both literally and metaphorically – held in conjunction with National Day.
• Prestige Gallery presents Cleanse: Asia Pacific Now from 15 August – 27 September, a group show that examines cleansing as a ritual, psychological condition and cultural form through the works of artists from the region.
• The Private Museum presents Shadows, Signals, and the Line: Abstract Expressionism in Singapore from 29 May – 23 August, which explores the development of abstraction in Singapore through the works of 16 local artists.
• ShanghART presents Taiki Sakpisit: 13 Nightmares from 25 July – 27 September, where the Thai artist transforms the gallery into a labyrinth of moving images, photographs, sound and spectral presences.
• Sundaram Tagore Gallery presents Neha Vedpathak: Land, Body, Spirit from 15 August – 17 October, spotlighting the Indian-born, Detroit-based artist who creates sculptural installations and wall reliefs made from Japanese paper.

Connect: Meeting the People Behind the Art
For many collectors, the stories behind artworks are just as meaningful as the works themselves, and galleries provide a space to discover both. This year’s SGM programme places a special emphasis on creating opportunities for visitors to engage directly with the people who shape Singapore’s art ecosystem. Through artist talks, studio visits, precinct tours, workshops and a “speed dating” event between collectors and artists, participants will gain rare access to the personal stories and hands-on experiences that bring artworks to life.

Selected programme highlights include:

• Gillman Gatherings returns on 15 August to mark the official start of SGM, as participating galleries around the art enclave come together to host a full day of exhibition openings, talks and other events for the whole family.
• Art After Hours, co-presented by AGAS and UOB on 29 August, will see galleries at Tanjong Pagar Distripark host a full day of talks, tours and performances; interactive exhibits and workshops at UOB Artbeat; and extended opening hours at the Singapore Art Museum.
• Creators & Connoisseurs: A Speed Dating Soirée will be held at Gajah Gallery on 5 September. This lively event brings together emerging and established artists for a series of rapid-fire conversations with collectors.
• Curated Encounters, a series of guided precinct tours led by artist and curator Daniel Chong, will take place on selected weekend dates between 22 Augst – 5 September, taking visitors around galleries in areas including Bras Basah and Orchard Road.
• Several galleries will run interactive experiences during the SGM period including an epoxy clay workshop and chicken illustration workshop by I.F. Gallery; a found poetry and collage workshop by LOY Art Gallery; and an immersive field recording workshop and neighbourhood sound walk by Sullivan+Strumpf.

These intimate experiences offer audiences a deeper understanding of artistic practices while fostering meaningful connections between artists, galleries, collectors and the public.
