Waldorf Astoria Osaka is turning afternoon tea into a stylish escape, inspired by The Devil Wears Prada 2 and infused with a touch of New York glamour. The “Elegance in New York Mode” Afternoon Tea is presented in a special, film-inspired edition at the hotel’s iconic Peacock Alley lounge.
Every dish in this collection is a tribute to the film’s iconic aesthetic, blending the cutting edge sharp lines of modern fashion with the enduring grace of timeless elegance. Guests can experience a menu curated for the bold: vibrant, crimson-hued sweets paired with sophisticated savories that capture the restless dynamism of New York City. Allow yourself to be transported to the world of Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria New York, a setting synonymous with the film’s most refined moments. Indulge in a moment of pure poise, complemented by a curated selection of fine teas and premium coffees.

The Chef’s Special Dish, Gala Classic Roasted Kobe Beef with Silk Mash and Gravy, reimagines a classic American roast. Luxuriously prepared with Kobe beef, it is paired with silky mashed potatoes and a horseradish-infused onion gravy. The richness of the meat and the depth of the sauce intertwine to create a refined and indulgent dish.
The experience then unfolds like a fashion runway. The afternoon tea menu is divided into “First Look,” “Second Look,” and “Third Look,” each representing a different mood and progression of flavors, from light and artistic to rich and comforting.
The journey begins with the First Look, where things feel fresh, delicate, and a little artistic. The Loom Collection features a honeyed pineapple tart, while Haute Couture Drape presents a blood orange mousse paired with apricot bonbon. The Atelier Style Cream Puff offers a savory twist, crafted with new onion, truffle, champignon gelée.

Next comes the Second Look, where flavors become bolder and more satisfying. The Signature Edition showcases a scarlet lobster roll, rich, indulgent, and full of flavor. Alongside it, the Tailored Sandwich delivers comfort with a refined edge: a grilled cheese sandwich enhanced with smoky BBQ sauce.

The experience flows into the Third Look, where everything softens into a more comforting and nostalgic finish. The Glamorous Gem, a Waldorf heritage scone filled with walnut and raisin, feels classic and pairs perfectly with tea. Beside it, Onyx Bites offers a cacao scone served with praline cream and mocha syrup.
