[/vc_blockquote][vc_column_text] The restaurant’s interior resembles an open-air art space where paintings, wood sculptures and antique objects are either hanging on walls or making interesting corner pieces. The dining area is a friendly clutter of objects and colour – welcome to provincial France. There is a gallery adjacent to the restaurant and here the displayed works of art are for sale. L’Assiette’s reputation rests on its fine French cuisine along with one or two interesting Asian dishes. The menu is decidedly French however and projects the same homely approach as the décor of this casual dining restaurant. Starters include black truffle in pastry, tuna salad, duck salad and an orange almond salad that is served with prawns. Main courses take one through the range of traditional French fare incorporating beef, pork, lamb, poultry and fish prepared with classic French style. The restaurant’s tenderloin in pastry with mushroom sauce is not to be missed. Set menus for lunch is changed on a daily basis and add a certain charm to this friendly family business. Sweets of course are an important French indulgence and a rather delightful “Fruit L’Assiette”, a combination of fresh fruit, homemade ice cream and sticky drink is a wonderful round off to a meal here. For the more devilish, hot chocolate fondue with ice cream or cream brulee will add another indulgent layer to a delightful meal. L’Assiette Jl.
