Courtyard by Marriott Opens Beachfront Resort in Okinawa

Courtyard by Marriott has debuted in Okinawa with the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort, a 170-room beachfront retreat in Nago. Located in Japan’s southernmost prefecture, Okinawa is renowned for its rich Ryukyuan culture, vibrant coral reefs and the UNESCO-listed Yambaru National Park.

Situated on Kise Beach in northern Okinawa, the resort brings Courtyard by Marriott’s signature modern hospitality to one of Japan’s most popular island destinations. Known for its subtropical climate, crystal-clear waters, and laid-back atmosphere, Okinawa attracts millions of domestic and international visitors annually. The property is located approximately 72 kilometers, or about an hour’s drive, from Naha International Airport.

Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort offers guests a scenic beachfront retreat with uninterrupted ocean and mountain views. Just steps away is the Busena Marine Park Underwater Observatory, where visitors can descend into an undersea observation tower and enjoy panoramic views of Okinawa’s colorful marine ecosystem and coral reefs. A short drive leads to Kanehide Kise Country Club, home to two championship golf courses set against dramatic coastal and forest scenery, adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Yambaru National Park.

Designed by renowned Japanese architectural firm Kume Sekkei, the hotel’s interiors reflect the Courtyard by Marriott brand’s modern aesthetic centered on comfort, functionality, and contemporary style. Inspired by the iconic natural beauty of Okinawa’s west coast, the design incorporates the striking contrast between the turquoise waters known as “Nago Blue” and the golden sands of Kise Beach. Floor-to-ceiling windows and thoughtfully curated interiors create a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape, allowing guests to experience the vibrant colors and tranquil atmosphere that define this celebrated coastal destination.

Guest Accommodations

Guest rooms and suites are thoughtfully appointed with modern amenities, offering both comfort and style. Ocean View Rooms feature private balconies overlooking the sea, while Mountain View Rooms provide serene vistas of the surrounding landscape. Many guest rooms accommodate up to four guests, making them suitable for families and groups, while select suites feature bunk beds. The suites offer generous living spaces, designed for productivity and relaxation, with wide windows that frame sweeping sunset views across the ocean.

Two Dining Venues
Guests can savor international dining at Shioka, where authentic Okinawan flavors sit alongside a daily international breakfast buffet and chef-curated lunch and dinner menus. The Lounge opens out to a wide ocean panorama and offers a welcoming spot to unwind or socialize, while the bar serves a curated selection of drinks, including Okinawa-inspired cocktails.

Wellness and Recreation
At Marine Club Berry, guests can experience Okinawa’s ocean playground through activities such as snorkeling, diving, flyboarding and stand-up paddleboarding. The hotel’s 24-hour Fitness Center features premium cardio equipment and weights, while the Treehouse Kids’ Club offers a bright, imaginative space for children and parents to learn and play together. Highlights include a dedicated kids’ library with picture books and educational toys, as well as a ball pool that provides a safe and engaging environment for recreation and social interaction.

Event and Wedding Venues
Located on the tenth floor, Coral is the hotel’s 210-square-meter event venue, bathed in natural light and framed by sweeping 180-degree ocean views. Equipped with premium audiovisual facilities, including a projector and advanced sound system, it provides an inspiring setting for meetings, private celebrations and special events. Weddings are held in the resort’s second-floor chapel, where couples can exchange vows in a serene island setting.
